tellet closes €400,000 pre-seed funding round

Tellet, the Amsterdam-based AI startup, announced today the successful closure of its oversubscribed €400,000 pre-seed funding round, marking a significant milestone in its journey to redefine consumer research using artificial intelligence.

The funding round saw participation from notable angel investors with deep sector experience, including Peter Kaas (Ommm Ventures), Harald Lamberts (Essense), Dirk Jan Dokman and Jaap van Gent (formerly CX Company), Declan O’Reilly (Empathy Research) and the three founders of Pointer Brand Protection. Their involvement underscores the industry’s belief in the company’s mission to ‘let people tellet like it is’ through innovation in the world of qualitative consumer insights.

Introducing a New Era in Consumer Research

Tellet’s platform utilises AI to conduct and analyse consumer research interviews, offering a powerful tool for professionals in market research, customer experience, product development and even academic research.

The process is simple yet powerful: users design their interview with the aid of tellet's AI co-pilot, share the link with their target audience, and let the AI take over. The platform's AI conducts interviews via a mobile messenger system, delving deep into the 'why' behind consumer thoughts and behaviours. Results are delivered in just a few hours, complete with transcripts, audio and video clips and an actionable report. Built with accessibility in mind, tellet supports responses in 30 languages, ensuring wide-ranging inclusivity.

Tellet has grown quickly since launching in August this year, securing prestigious clients including VodafoneZiggo, Blauw Research, Humanise and Essense.

A Step Forward for Customer Understanding

Founded by a Dutch and British quartet, tellet is spearheaded by CEO Merik te Grotenhuis, a veteran with 25 years in research and a successful exit from CG Research to Norstat in 2021. Pim Verbij is tellet’s Chief Technology Officer whose background includes tenure at the BBC and 24i. Greg Burke is tellet’s Chief Commercial Officer, the former UK journalist has spent the last 8 years working for TV chef and campaigner Jamie Oliver’s media group. Luc Maas, formerly of Uber and Unknown Group VC, completes the founding team as Chief Product Officer.

Merik te Grotenhuis, CEO of tellet says

“This funding is a validation of our vision to transform how businesses understand their customers. With tellet, we are not just collecting data; we are uncovering stories, emotions and the true voice of the consumer.”

The successful funding round positions tellet to deliver on its mission to build the world’s best AI interviewer, setting a new standard in AI-driven consumer research empowering people to ‘tellet like it is’.
